Sharing My Interest With Others

I have always loved being outdoors with my father and brother just enjoying all that God created. Spending a lot of time in the "woods," not only gave me opportunities but also the desire to record what I saw in some manner. Over the years I took many photographs as reference tools for paintings to be sure not only the subjects were correct, but also the habitats. Over time the number of photos grew and I thought others may be interested in some of the photos.
In the fall and winter I am fortunate enough to be able to spend hours in a blind shooting my of the subjects for future paintings. As a painting is planned and the photos are reviewed I am reminded of not only where the photo was taken but all different wildlife I saw. Wrens come into the blind to look me over; squirrels have used the top of the blind as a means to another tree or bush.
I am a member of the Louisiana Society of Animal Artists, and a number of conservation organizations like Delta Waterfowl, Louisiana Native Plant Society, etc.
My wife and I live in a rural area where many native species, fur and feather, are residents year round, In the fall and winter hundreds of winter birds spend this time with us until they head back north. In the spring our summer residents return to live and rear their young before heading south again.
Watercolor and oil are the two mediums I use for all my paintings whether wildlife or landscapes. As a Christian it is a pleasure to paint and photograph what God has created for others to enjoy.
